DRIVE-BY EDITING: punctuation & spelling 2

This sign could benefit from a liberal dose of full stops (“No appointment necessary drop in or call”) and spell-checking (“Work to-day get paid to-day”). Photo by Frank Karabotsos.


  1. “Always” is an adverb of frequency. These guys are not used with the progressive verb tense. Madame proofreader would revise the sign to either “Hiring today/ this week/ this year” or “We always hire on Saturdays/weekdays/your birthday”.
